Fran Stallings

Friday and Saturday evenings

Our lucky audiences will hear Fran Stallings both nights when she opens and closes the evening concerts.  Fran Stallings, a storyteller from Bartlesville, Oklahoma, teaches and tells traditional tales, science-based "eco tales," and original creations at festivals and conferences nationwide and overseas.

A singer/songwriter, Fran has used songs in her performances since 1985, recording covers and original songs on 4 CDs. Autoharp accompanies her songs and embellishes many of her stories. She plays autoharp with the contra-band Silver Dollar Strings.

Fran co-authored three books and edited a fourth with the Japanese storyteller, Hiroko Fujita. They also toured together on both sides of the Pacific.  For their extraordinary work, the National Storytelling Network presented Fran and Hiroko with an International Story Bridge ORACLE Award.

Fran is a founder and served many terms on the board of Territory Tellers, Oklahoma's storytelling network. Because she is a teller who promotes other storytellers and keeps the storytelling fires burning, Fran was also awarded a Service and Leadership ORACLE Award for her work in the South Central United States.
